I used to store my embroidery threads in a simple cardboard box, and then one day, seeing that mug tree holder hanging in a closet, I told myself that I had to do something with it. I wanted to be able to easily catch the thread spools for my Brazilian bracelets, and I also wanted to highlight them in my small workshop.
So I covered the mug tree holder with decorative paper towels and glue-varnish. To hang the embroidery threads, I first gathered them in groups that I tied with a ribbon before attaching the ribbons to each branch of the tree.
If you also want to retrieve an old mug tree holder and cover with decorative towels, nothing more simple : cut pieces of towel , apply a first coat of glue-varnish, put pieces of towel on the support, then apply a new layer of glue-varnish and leave to dry for 24 hours. You can replace the decorative towels with another type of paper such as Decopatch or Artepatch.
